Reading Comprehension: O’Higgins Park
Student Identification
O’Higgins Park is one of the most important places in Chile. In the past, it was called “Parque Cousiño” and opened in 1873. It was a private garden for rich families, but later it became a public space for everyone to enjoy nature and culture.
Today, the park is very popular and modern. It has a big arena for concerts called Movistar Arena and a fun park named Fantasilandia. Every September, people go there to celebrate “Fiestas Patrias” in the traditional fondas with music, dance, and typical food.
It is a great place for families and friends. You can ride a bicycle, have a picnic under the trees, or just walk. The park represents the history of Santiago and it is still a favorite spot for many Chileans every weekend.
