👤 Part 1: Personal Pronouns
📌 ¿Qué son? Los personal pronouns (pronombres personales) reemplazan a los nombres para evitar repeticiones. Indican quién realiza la acción.
| Subject Pronoun | Significado | Ejemplo (Example) |
|---|---|---|
| I | Yo | I work during the day. |
| You | Tú / Usted / Ustedes | You study in the evening. |
| He | Él | He wakes up early. |
| She | Ella | She works at a store. |
| It | Él / Ella (objetos / animales) | It is a good job. |
| We | Nosotros / Nosotras | We study together. |
| They | Ellos / Ellas | They finish work at 6 PM. |
💡 Remember: Los pronombres personales SIEMPRE acompañan al verbo en inglés. No podemos omitirlos como en español.
✅ I am a student. ❌ Am a student.
✅ She works hard. ❌ Works hard.
🔗 Part 2: Verb To Be
📌 ¿Qué es? El verbo “to be” significa “ser” o “estar”. Es el verbo más importante en inglés y se usa para describir estados, identidades y ubicaciones.
Present Tense (Presente)
| Pronoun | Verb To Be | Example |
|---|---|---|
| I | am | I am a student. |
| You | are | You are a worker. |
| He / She / It | is | She is at work now. |
| We | are | We are in class. |
| They | are | They are tired. |
Past Tense (Pasado)
| Pronoun | Verb To Be | Example |
|---|---|---|
| I | was | I was at school yesterday. |
| You | were | You were tired last night. |
| He / She / It | was | She was at work. |
| We | were | We were in class. |
| They | were | They were at the bus stop. |
Present: I am a student at EPJA. I am tired but happy.
Past: Yesterday, I was very busy. We were at school until 10 PM.
Negatives: I am not lazy. He was not at home.
Questions: Are you a student? Was she at work yesterday?
📝 Part 3: The -ing Form
📌 ¿Qué es? La forma “-ing” se usa para formar el Present Continuous (acciones que están ocurriendo en este momento) y también como gerundio (actividades en general).
Present Continuous (Presente Continuo)
| Pronoun | Structure | Example |
|---|---|---|
| I | am + verb-ing | I am studying now. |
| You | are + verb-ing | You are working today. |
| He / She / It | is + verb-ing | She is reading a book. |
| We | are + verb-ing | We are having dinner. |
| They | are + verb-ing | They are walking to school. |
💡 Spelling Rules for -ing:
- Most verbs: add -ing → work → working, read → reading
- Verbs ending in -e: drop -e, add -ing → write → writing, make → making
- One-syllable CVC verbs: double final consonant → run → running, stop → stopping
Right now, I am sitting in my classroom. I am listening to the teacher.
My classmates are writing notes. We are studying English.
At 10 PM, I am going home. I am taking the bus.
